The GLP-1 Conversation Nobody is Having Right Now
Something new I've been working on...
Hey, if you've been on my list for a while, you know this is a little different.
I've been writing The High Performance Playbook for almost a year now.
And if you've opened at least one of my newsletters, you know I don't waste your time.
Everything I share comes from somewhere real: my experience, my obsessions, and the things I genuinely believe can change how you perform and how long you stay in the game.
This newsletter here is something new.
I'm co-founding a telehealth company called Kora MD®, and I'm going to be sending a dedicated newsletter around it from time to time.
Not to sell you something… but because there's a massive amount of noise in the health and wellness space right now, and I'd rather be the person cutting through it than adding to it.
If metabolic health, longevity, and actually understanding what's happening in your body interests you, you're going to want to stay on this list.
Let's get into it:
The GLP-1 Conversation Nobody Is Having
You can't scroll Instagram, open a podcast app, or walk past a TV without hearing about Ozempic, Wegovy, or "the shot celebrities are taking to lose weight."
GLP-1 medications have gone fully mainstream, and honestly? That's both a good thing and a dangerous one.
Here's the part no one's talking about.
First, What Actually is a GLP-1?
GLP-1 stands for glucagon-like peptide-1. It's a hormone your gut naturally produces when you eat.
It signals your pancreas to release insulin, tells your brain you're full, and slows digestion so glucose enters your bloodstream more gradually.
Semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy) and Tirzepatide (Mounjaro/Zepbound) are medications that mimic or amplify this response, and the clinical results, when used correctly, are genuinely impressive.
But "genuinely impressive when used correctly" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence.
The Problem With How Most People Are Using Them
The telehealth boom has made it easier than ever to get a GLP-1 prescription. A ten-minute async questionnaire, a rubber-stamp approval, and a vial shows up at your door.
No real intake, no metabolic baseline, and no physician who actually knows your history.
And then people wonder why they:
Lose weight, but also lose significant lean muscle mass
Experience brutal side effects that could've been managed with proper dosing protocols
Stop seeing results after a few months because nothing about their metabolic health actually changed
Regain the weight the moment they stop, because they were never given a long-term strategy
I've been in health and wellness for over 20 years.
I own fitness clubs, gyms, and sports performance and recovery centers. I've seen every trend come and go, and the pattern is always the same: a powerful tool, misused at scale, turns into a cautionary tale.
GLP-1s don't have to be that. But right now, for a lot of people, that's exactly what's happening.
What It Actually Looks Like When It's Done Right
The difference isn't the medication. It's the model of care around it.
Done right, GLP-1 therapy looks like this:
A licensed U.S. physician reviews your health history, actually reviews it, not an algorithm
You start on a microdose protocol, titrated up based on your response, not a one-size-fits-all approach
Compound sourcing comes from FDA-registered 503A pharmacies only, no gray market, no offshore supply chains, full chain-of-custody transparency
Muscle preservation is built into the protocol from day one, because losing 30 lbs while gutting your lean mass is not a win
You have direct access to your care team… a real person, not a chatbot, not a ticket system
That's not what most telehealth companies are offering. And that gap is exactly why we built Kora MD®.
The Bottom Line
GLP-1 medications are a legitimate tool, the science is real, and the results (when the model of care is right) are genuinely life-changing.
But a prescription without proper clinical oversight isn't healthcare. It's a transaction. And your health deserves more than that.
If you want to understand more about whether GLP-1 therapy is actually right for you, or if you've tried it before and felt like something was off, stay tuned.
I'm going to be breaking this down piece by piece over the coming weeks and months.
And if you want to be among the first to experience what real, physician-led metabolic care looks like, Kora MD® goes live soon.
