Mindset & Psychology

I don’t talk about this often.

But in my 20s, I was struggling more than most people knew…

From the outside, life looked fine.

I was social, driven, and chasing success. I had moved from Atlanta to LA after high school, had a bunch of friends, a beautiful girlfriend, and was on the hunt to “make it.”

But behind closed doors, I was in a cycle of alcohol and drugs use that I couldn’t seem to escape.

Late nights turned into lost days.

Partying turned into dependency.

And slowly, I started drifting further from the man I wanted to become.

But through it all, there was one place I kept showing up to, no matter how bad the night before had been.

The gym.

Some mornings, I’d drag myself there feeling like hell.

But that hour of movement gave me something I desperately needed.

Clarity.

It wasn’t just about lifting weights.

It was about proving to myself, day after day, that I hadn’t given up.

The gym didn’t judge me.

It didn’t care how broken I felt. It didn’t care if I was lost or lonely.

It was consistent when I wasn’t.

It gave me structure when everything else felt chaotic.

And over time, that consistency started to compound.

The gym became my anchor.

My therapy.

My reset button.

I began to realize that when I took care of my body, my mind followed. That discipline under the iron translated into discipline in life. That physical strength created emotional resilience.

Eventually, fitness became the foundation for everything I’ve built:

The businesses.

The investments.

The relationships.

The life.

So when people ask why I’m obsessed with health and fitness, it’s not just about aesthetics. That’s just a bonus.

It’s because fitness saved me.

If you’re in a dark place, I’ll never tell you it’s easy.

But I will tell you this:

The first rep might change your life.

Not because it solves everything… but because it starts something.

You don’t need to be perfect.

You just need to show up.

If you’re struggling with something today, try joining a new gym. Get a personal trainer for a few weeks. Go check out a local boxing or cycling studio. Try Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Do something different and new… You never know, it could be the start of the most important foundation for the rest of your life. Just show up… and see what happens.

Health & Fitness + Longevity

If you’re juggling work, family, and everything else life throws at you, fitness often takes a back seat.

But here’s the good news:

You don’t need an hour a day in the gym to stay fit.

You just need the Minimum Effective Dose (MED)… the least amount of consistent effort required to maintain strength, energy, and longevity.

Here’s what that can actually look like:

Strength (2x/week):

Push, pull, squat, hinge.

Two full-body resistance workouts a week keeps you strong, mobile, and metabolically healthy.

Cardio (2–3x/week):

Think 20–40 minutes of Zone 2 (easy pace) walks, rides, or jogs.

Great for your heart, energy, and stress. Personally, I prefer rucking (which is just LISS, or low-intensity steady-state cardio, like walking) with a weighted vest.

Movement Snacks (daily):

10 pushups, 20 air squats, or a quick stretch during your day.

Small movements keep your joints happy and blood flowing.

Sleep > Supplements:

If you’re choosing between more sleep or more supplements… choose sleep.

It’s your most powerful recovery tool.

Consistency > Intensity.

You don’t need to train like an athlete—you need to train like someone who wants to stay healthy for life.

Start small. Build momentum. And fit fitness into your life, not the other way around.

Personal Finance Tip of the Week

Looking back, one of the biggest things I’d do differently?

Avoid lifestyle creep.

It’s sneaky. You start making a little more… so you spend a little more.

New clothes. Nicer car. Better dinners. Upgraded apartment. Bigger vacations.

It feels harmless, like a reward for your hard work.

But it adds up fast. And before you know it, you’re making double what you used to… with nothing to show for it.

Here’s the hard truth:

If your spending scales with your income, you’ll always feel broke.

The key is to lock in your lifestyle before the upgrades start.

Not forever, but long enough to build real financial momentum.

When your income goes up:

  • Increase your savings

  • Pay off debt faster

  • Invest the difference

Then, if you want to spend more, do it intentionally.

Future you will thank you.

Business Playbook

Jeff Bezos didn’t beat his competition by being smarter.

He beat them by being more willing to suffer.

While others chased comfort and quick profits, Bezos chose razor-thin margins, brutal logistics, and relentless reinvestment.

When Amazon launched Prime, people thought he was crazy.

Free 2-day shipping looked like a death wish.

But Bezos knew one thing:

Endurance is a moat.

Most people quit when it gets hard.

Bezos built a company that thrived in the hard.

You don’t need to be the smartest.

You need to be the one who outlasts everyone else.
